Beginning immediately, any IB student, submitting "request for absence" for college visits will find it being DENIED if their CAS documentation is not current. It is my belief that IB students are completing CAS, yet a majority are very lax in completing the documentation and submitting it for review. In an effort to influence students to submit their documentation in a timely manner, the above procedure/practice will be instituted. Timely submissions is defined "within the semester". For example, if a student wants their college visit "excused" for second semester, then CAS documentation needs to have been submitted at least by the previous semester. Once a college visit has been denied and the visit has occurred, a later submission of CAS documentation will not reverse the "unexcused" designation. It is my intent and hope that this procedure will be incentive enough for many students to submit their delinquent CAS submissions.

Reference the CAS calendar (in the right-hand column) to ensure you submit all necessary CAS documentation as expected. ALSO, complete CAS documentation when the event/project/service occurs, rather than waiting until the due date.
